The Michigan International Camporee is a unique event in North America. Compared to some jamborees, it is a relatively small event, with well under 1000 participants. That allows participants to get to know each other. However, over 1/3 of the youth participants at a Michigan International Camporee are from outside of North America. Participating Scouts and Venturers not only meet U.S. and Canadian Scouts. They meet and get to know Scouts from all over the world. There are currently contingents registered for the 2008 Michigan International Camporee from Australia, Austria, Costa Rica, Egypt, England, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan (R.O.C.), Trinidad & Tobago and Uganda.
The 2008 Michigan International Camporee is authorized by regional and national offices of the Boy Scouts of America and is included in the World Organization of the Scout Movement's Scouting Events Database.

International Contingents: We are pleased to invite one patrol of up to 8 Scouts, either mixed boys and girls or all boys, and 2 adults from any WOSM member country outside the United States and Canada to participate in the July 27 to August 3, 2008, Michigan International Camporee and the preceding week of home stays with no camp fee. Each contingent will be responsible for their own transportation to and from Michigan and for some admissions costs during home stay week and will need to supply their own personal camping equipment, but the camp, including food and the use of tents and cooking equipment, is free.
U.S. and Canadian Contingents: There are two ways in which U.S. and Canadian troops and crews can participate in the Michigan International Camporee. Troop and crews from Michigan’s Lower Peninsula and nearby parts of Indiana, Ohio, and Ontario are invited to apply to take part in the full Michigan International Camporee experience by hosting international Scouts in your homes the week of July 20 to 27 and then joining with your international guests in a campsite troop at the July 27 to August 3 Michigan International Camporee. A U.S. or Canadian troop or crew that is located too far away from Michigan to be a host unit can apply to have one patrol of 8 Scouts/Venturers and 2 adults participate in the Michigan International Camporee without making the commitment to be a host unit. This option is not available to troops and crews in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. All U.S. and Canadian youth participants in the Michigan International Camporee must be registered Scouts or Venturers and must be part of a troop or crew contingent. No Scout or Venturer can register as an individual participant.
For members of U.S. and Canadian troops and crews, the Michigan International Camporee 2008 fee is US $ 250, including food, for each Scout/Venturer and US $100, including food, for each adult unit leader. Your unit’s initial application will be submitted electronically. Once we confirm that there is space for the contingent from your troop or crew to participate in the Michigan International Camporee, you will be asked to send in a completed application form with a non-refundable deposit of U.S. $25 for each Scout or Venturer in your contingent. Campsite unit leader applications with the U.S. $100 unit leader fee are due by Sept. 1, 2007. Individual Scout/Venturer applications along with second payments of $100 are due by Nov. 1, 2007. The final $125 payment for Scouts and Venturers is due by March 1, 2008.
You are invited to become part of our Michigan International Camporee 2008 Steering Committee. We meet regularly at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Lansing Road, in Lansing.
